Frequently asked questions
We are a two-sided marketplace that connects principal investigators, research staff, and institutions (Project Owners, or POs) with vetted Independent Research Professionals (IRPs). Project owners can post projects, review candidates, and start engagements quickly, while IRPs gain visibility, build reputations, and find consistent work. We run alongside existing institutional systems so contracting can happen in parallel, cutting down delays.
Unlike generic marketplaces, we are purpose-built for academic research and grant-funded work. We have compliance by design (identity verification, credential checks, milestone-based payments, audit trails) and align with academic culture. We fill the gap between rigid university HR systems and unregulated gig platforms.
Yes. If a principal investigator also wants to serve as a consultant or expert, they need to register separately as an Independent Research Professional in addition to their Project Owner account. This can be done by using a different email address, or by adding “+1” or other text after their existing email username if their email provider supports plus-addressing such as Gmail.
